Cygnet Elms Celebrate at National Learning Disability and Autism Awards 2023

On Friday 30th June the National Learning Disability and Autism Awards took place at the ICC in Birmingham. Cygnet Elms were lucky enough to have two finalist entries for this year’s awards – the first for service users, Flo and Vicki and the second for team member, Frances Hancox.

Flo and Vicky were nominated for the Great Autism Practice Award for the work they completed during Autism Awareness Week. Frances Hancox was nominated by service users for the Learning Disability Nurse Award, and was recognised for showing continued dedication to her role.

Everyone in attendance enjoyed a three course meal, and the black-tie dress code was a great opportunity to dress up. The night was filled with stories of inspirational people doing tremendous amounts of work to better the lives of people with Learning Disabilities and Autism. Cygnet Elms said that it was an honour to be surrounded by so many people that share the same passion and commitment to improving the lives of others.

Throughout the night there was lots of entertainment, from a Queen tribute act to a disco. Staff and service users spent the night celebrating all of the winners, and although sadly did not win any awards, have taken a lot of inspiration from the people that did.

Head of Care at Cygnet Elms, Diana White-Blake said “We are extremely proud to have finalists in such prestigious awards, for such a small service to have been nominated for 2 awards with 3 finalists is an extreme honour, they will all be winners in our eyes. Even without being awarded, the work they have done will continue to inspire the work we carry out every day.”
