Meet the Team

Gavin Clark - Hospital Manager

Gavin has over 20 years’ experience working in independent mental health care. Following completing a psychology degree he began working as a healthcare worker in a medium secure forensic setting whilst looking to decide which area to specialize in. Preferring the day-to-day contact with service users on the ward, he retrained as a mental health nurse.

Following qualifying in 2007, Gavin returned to work in a secure setting, working on both male and female mental illness and personality disorder wards. He took his first steps in to management in 2014, as a Charge Nurse, before becoming a Ward Manager in 2015. Gavin initially joined Cygnet as Clinical Manager of Cygnet Hospital Harrogate in 2018 before taking the role of Hospital Manager in 2020. He was appointed Hospital Manager of Cygnet Hospital Wyke in 2024 before joining the team at Cygnet Lodge Brighouse in 2025.

Gavin believes in being approachable, fostering a caring and supportive team that treats others with respect and compassion and aims to consistently deliver the highest standards of care.

Altina Zimbahwe - Head of Care

Altina qualified as a registered mental health nurse in 2003 from the University of Leeds. Altina started her career with Cygnet in 2003 working in their low secure services, she has also worked within the PICU and Acute services before moving to the Rehabilitation service. Altina became Head of care at Cygnet Lodge Brighouse in July 2021. She is a Trauma Risk Management Practitioner and Reducing Restrictive Practice lead.

Dr Aigbenosedeba (Ig) Ebewele - Speciality Doctor

Dr Ig Ebewele completed his training as a medical doctor in 2017 at the University of Benin in Nigeria. He moved to the UK in 2022, where he completed a Master’s in Public Health. Ig started his Journey with Cygnet in 2023 at Cygnet Hospital Wyke where he worked in the Acute services and also in a Rehabilitation service for patients with learning Disabilities and autism. Ig moved to join the Brighouse Team in May 2025.

Sunita Bhatti - Psychologist

Sunita qualified as a Forensic Psychologist and has worked in mental health services since 2009. She has worked in low secure and locked rehabilitation services with males and females as a support worker and within the psychology department. Sunita joined Cygnet Lodge Brighouse in November 2021 and offers individual and group therapy sessions.

Shaun Stevenson - Therapy Manager & Substance Misuse Practitioner

Shaun joined Cygnet Health Care in 2012. Prior to this he worked for 19 years with the Ministry of Justice, holding a number of roles focusing on rehabilitative work. He has facilitated and managed a wide range of offending behaviour programmes using a CBT approach. For the past 9 years Shaun’s specialist area of work has been the development and management of substance misuse programmes in custodial and community settings. He is an experienced trainer of substance misuse workers for CBT group work.

Cordy Askew - Art Therapist

'Cordy Askew is a state registered art therapist with over 20 years post qualifying experience working with people who have mental health problems and Learning Disabilities. She moved to Yorkshire in 2005 to take up a job with Cygnet. Cordy currently works at Cygnet Lodge Brighouse on Thursdays, offering individual and group art therapy treatment.

Carla Davey – HR Administrator

Carla joined Cygnet after gaining over 2 years’ experience in Recruitment within the public and private sector. Carla graduated in 2015 with a First Class Honours Degree in Human Resource Management.

Carla’s main role is to support Cygnet Lodge Brighouse with their HR function including recruitment and retention of staff as well as being responsible for providing the best training development and activities for all staff within the units.

Throughout the year, Cygnet Lodge Brighouse service users have attended the allotment plot, getting stuck in with digging, planting, sanding benches, potting and watering plants to create a outdoor area they can use.
