Cygnet Hospital Colchester celebrates Africa Day

On Friday 23rd May the team at Cygnet Hospital Colchester held a celebration for Africa Day.

Lynn McGhee, Hospital Manager, said: “I think it is fair to say that it was a great success. Thank you to all who contributed to make the day so special. There were many highlights for me. I really enjoyed taking part in the flag quiz on the wall, even though I didn’t have a clue about the flags and needed to ask my friend Google to help!

“I think I truly learned something though. I also enjoyed reading about some of the facts and information also dotted around on the walls. The whole place was decorated so well. It was great to see people enjoying the different foods that were provided and being prepared. The music was great, the clothing was really special and lovely to see, and I also learned something about the significance of the animal print and buttons on some of the costumes and learned that we have some royalty amongst us!

“It was so lovely to see one of our patients from Chestnut proudly bringing in his Jollof rice that he had made to serve to everyone. Well done to all. It was amazing!”
